# Pricing & Listing Model — NSFW-Tools

NSFW-Tools has a **mixed model**. The catalogue is editorial: we choose the platforms, write the reviews, and rank them. Separately, a platform can **subscribe to a paid listing** to be added to and kept in the directory.

**What money cannot buy: position in our rankings.** The "Best X" guides at [/best/](https://nsfw-tools.com/best/), the head-to-head comparison pages, and the verdicts inside every review are editorial and are not for sale, to subscribers or to affiliate partners.

Notes:

- **Subscriptions, not one-off fees.** A paid listing stays live for as long as the subscription is active. Cancel any time at [https://nsfw-tools.com/billing/](https://nsfw-tools.com/billing/).
- **If a subscription lapses**, the review page stays online and nothing is deleted, but the outbound link to the platform and the paid badges switch off until it resumes.
- **All outbound links on paid listings carry `rel="sponsored"`**, as do affiliate links. We do not sell dofollow links and we do not pass PageRank for money.
- **We can still decline or remove a listing**, paid or not, if the platform is illegal, non-consensual, involves minors, or misrepresents itself. Payment does not guarantee inclusion; a refused submission is refunded.

## Editorial listings

The large majority of the catalogue is **editorial**: added by us, unpaid, with no relationship to the platform beyond (in some cases) an affiliate link. Editorial listings are outside the subscription system entirely. They cannot lapse and they are never charged for.

## For affiliates and partners

We use standard affiliate links on some outbound platform CTAs. **Affiliate revenue does not influence rankings.** The editorial criteria for each guide are documented on [/how-we-test/](https://nsfw-tools.com/how-we-test/). If a tool is in our top 3 for a guide, the same tool would be there with or without an affiliate relationship.

## For users (visitors)

NSFW-Tools is **free to use**. There is no paywall, no account creation, no required signup. The full catalogue, every review, every comparison, and the quiz recommender are all open.

## What the badges mean

- **Featured** (★, amber star): Prominent placement (homepage rail, top of category). This is **either** an editorial pick **or** a paid Featured subscription. It signals placement, not a ranking verdict.
- **Verified** (✓, blue checkmark): We have confirmed the platform's identity and basic safety signals (HTTPS, terms, reachable support contact). Verification is included in the paid Verified and Featured plans, and is also applied editorially. It is a statement about identity, not about quality.
- **New** (uppercase NEW): One of the most recently added platforms in the catalogue.

## Editorial process

1. Submission (paid or free) or internal discovery → 2. We check the platform's identity, content policies, and safety signals → 3. The review is drafted (AI-assisted, from the live site) → 4. It is listed in the catalogue and on any matching category pages → 5. It is updated when the platform changes or we revisit it.

Placement in ranked guides is decided after this, on editorial criteria only.
