Creator Subscriptions vs PPV: What Your Payment Buys

Learn how creator subscriptions, free follows, PPV and trials differ. Compare Fansly and Fanvue billing rules before you pay or enable auto-renewal.

by NSFW-Tools Team · 5 min read

A creator subscription usually buys access to a defined feed or tier for a billing period. It does not automatically unlock every message, paid post or future purchase. Pay-per-view, or PPV, is a separate transaction. Before subscribing, compare what is included, what costs extra and when the subscription renews.

This guide uses published Fansly and Fanvue documentation checked on 30 October 2026. We did not buy creator subscriptions or evaluate individual creators. It is about payment and access mechanics, not content quality. NSFW-Tools may receive commissions through links in its platform reviews.

Four payment labels that are easy to confuse

Label What to establish before paying
Follow Whether following is free and which updates it makes available.
Subscription The exact tier, included posts or benefits, billing period and renewal price.
PPV Which individual item the one-off payment unlocks and any continuing-access limits.
Trial or discount Its duration, conversion price and whether renewal is automatic.

These are questions to check on the actual offer, not promises that every platform implements each label identically. One creator may include more in a subscription than another on the same service.

Fansly: inspect the tier and the renewal details

Fansly's subscription documentation describes creator-defined tiers and benefits, with some creators offering multi-month discounts. Subscriptions renew automatically unless the subscriber disables renewal. The subscription view distinguishes renewal dates from expiry dates, and cancellation leaves access active through the current billing period. Source: Fansly subscription management.

Most subscriptions run for a calendar month, but promotional codes and longer plans can have different durations. The checkout states the applicable period. A month should therefore not be casually rewritten as 30 days in every comparison. Source: Fansly subscription length.

The buying decision is specific: does this tier include the material or interaction you want? If the description is vague, do not assume an expensive tier means all future purchases are included. Ask for clarification through the service before paying.

Fanvue: separate subscription expiry from PPV access

Fanvue describes subscriptions as 30-day periods that renew automatically. A trial converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled. Renewal details are available in payment settings. The documentation says separately purchased PPV stays accessible after subscription expiry unless the creator deletes that media. Source: Fanvue subscription help.

That last qualification matters. Continuing platform access is not the same as owning a permanent downloadable copy. Do not assume a one-off digital purchase guarantees that the file will remain online indefinitely, or grants permission to redistribute it.

Fanvue's help page describes subscriptions, renewals, tips and PPV as non-refundable. Treat this as the provider's stated policy, not a universal legal conclusion about consumer rights. If a charge is disputed or something was not delivered as described, contact support with the transaction details. Source: Fanvue refund policy.

Which platform should you shortlist?

Start with the creator and the actual offer, not the platform logo. If the same creator is available on more than one service, compare the included access, standard renewal price and likely extra purchases. A tiered offer can suit someone who wants predictable recurring access; separate purchases can suit someone who wants only selected items.

Fansly and Fanvue both belong on that shortlist when they host the creator you want. The documentation above explains different buying questions, not features that are necessarily exclusive to either platform. We have not established a universal winner on value or creator quality.

OnlyFans needs its own terms check. We could not verify its current terms page in this research. We have therefore not copied Fansly or Fanvue rules into an OnlyFans column. Familiar branding is not evidence that renewal, refunds or access rules match.

Calculate a realistic monthly budget

Consider a hypothetical subscription priced at $10, plus two optional $8 purchases. The total is $26, not $10. If an introductory discount expires, the following period can cost more even when your use stays the same. These are illustration amounts, not platform prices.

Set two limits: a recurring subscription budget and a separate discretionary-purchase budget. Record each renewal date and standard renewal amount. If a trial is only for evaluation, decide whether to renew before the conversion date rather than relying on remembering a promotional email.

A checklist before confirming a subscription

  1. Read the tier description and identify exactly what is included.
  2. Check whether messages or selected posts require separate payments.
  3. Note the billing period, trial end and standard renewal amount.
  4. Read access and cancellation rules before assuming a purchase is permanent.
  5. Keep the receipt and confirm renewal status in the account after changing it.

A clear offer is more valuable than a vague promise of unlimited access. If the description does not answer a question that affects your budget, pause before paying.

Frequently asked questions

Does subscribing unlock every post and message?

Not automatically. Check the specific creator's tier and any separate paid items. Do not infer all-inclusive access from the word subscription alone.

Is cancelling the same as getting a refund?

No. Turning off renewal generally concerns future billing; a refund concerns a payment already made. The platform's current rules and your applicable rights determine the latter.

Will PPV remain accessible after I unsubscribe?

It depends on the platform and purchase terms. Fanvue says separately bought PPV remains accessible after subscription expiry, but notes the creator may delete it. Do not generalize that rule to other services.
